The woman entered the meeting via floor to ceiling drapes and stood on a mark which had been placed in the middle of stage.
The carpet kept her shoes from slipping, and as she stood looking out over the auditorium, she saw the faces of her family.
As the room ushered to silence, the woman found herself lost for words and paralysed.
She hung her head, looked at the floor, then lifted it again, as she heard a noise behind her.
The woman with red hair pushed her chair back from the 10 seat table and made her way to the woman on stage.
Turning her back to the crowd, she embraced the woman with brown hair and whispered away from the microphone:
You’ve got this….
We’re here to help.
But this part is for you…
Take a minute.
And when you are ready, say whatever it is you want to say.”
The two women hugged each other warmly, then the woman with red hair moved away from the stage and sat back at the table.
The man with the microphone stood to the right and began the announcement.
“It has been brought to our attention, you have requested counsel with 10 of the worlds most influential women~ is that correct?”
The woman on stage nodded and spoke clearly.
“Yes. That is correct.”
“And the reason you have requested this meeting is…..?”
“Because I wish to ask a question” replied the woman.
“And that question is….?” queried the man.
“The question I wish to ask is whether or not there is a problem, and if there is~ then as a collective; should we should get involved in addressing it, and if we do, will our actions inadvertently contribute to un-intended and potentially dangerous side effects.”
The man nodded in understanding and then kept talking.
“Your statement has been heard.
I hereby acknowledge on behalf of the board the following statement:
We hear you.
We see you.
We are listening to you.
Please be seated at the table and proceed to address the table member of your choice, but keep in mind the following limitations:
- This meeting goes for 15 minutes and can not go over time
- Difficult problems, do not bring easy solutions. Although members of the table will listen to your request in the allocated time, they can not give you tailored advice or answers. They can only listen to your question, take notes, and then make a decision within 4 weeks on whether or not they wish to be involved in what you have asked of them.
- Due to time being so limited, we ask you to first start with Identification. Identify your most pressing needs and work backwards to the least pressing. This way if you run out of time, your most important message will be heard first.
The man looked at the woman kindly and finished his speech.
“Do you understand what I have just said to you?”
The woman nodded and answered
