The woman wearing the black dress turned her head to look at the man addressing her.
“I’m sorry…” she said….”are you talking to me?”
The man at the piano nodded.
“Yes” he said.
I’m talking to you.”
“Thank you…..” she said.
“That’s very kind…..however….I have two left feet….dancing is not really my strong point….” she laughed and looked at her feet, and the man noted the golden pumps.
“Nice shoes” he said.
“Surely a woman with golden sparkle shoes knows how to dance…..yes?”
The woman cringed.
“Uh… no. Not really….”
The man looked at her re-assuringly and then beckoned the bar-man.
“Old chap…..” he piqued
“Do you have a drink to entice this young lady to dance with me?”
The barman assessed the situation and wondered how best to respond without offending both parties.
In the end he nodded.
“Yes I do believe so.” he stated.
“Possibly if the lady had a more comfortable shoe to wear, she may not feel so hesitant….” he began.
“If the lady agrees, I could find a Japanese Slipper to ease her discomfort on the dance floor should she please…..”
The man grinned at the ingenuity of it all and the woman blushed and thought quickly.
“What do you say my dear?” asked the piano man.
“Would a Japanese Slippper make you re-consider?”
The woman felt herself blushing again, before deciding to make up her own mind.

“However I am quite partial to keeping my sequin shoes…..that being said though…” she trailed off…
