I’m here to change my life.
I have no idea why I’ve buddied up with a complete stranger and made a commitment to finish a project I haven’t even begun, but hey….that’s what change is all about….
Oh far out.
How did I end up here????
The blonde sat looking at the man sitting next to her with precision cutting skills.
He was taking his time making sure the pictures needed were severed straight down the line.
No cutting on the inside.
No cutting on the outside.
Just perfectly pared down the middle.
The woman turned to look at her own images.
A haphazard collection of rough torn pages, jagged edges and chaotic shapes.
Her work was sprawled all over the table, whilst his work was catalogued and stacked neatly in piles taking up a small amount of space.
The woman shook her head and wondered exactly who this man was.
Who cuts out images like that?
Who has that kind of precision to their work?
Not an artist.
She wondered about her new buddy.
Maybe he was a neurosurgeon?
They have precise cutting skills…..
Or maybe he was a professional seamstress….. though if a man was a seamstress she wondered if they were even called a seamstress??
maybe he was a dressmaker…..
or a shoemaker…..
And with that she began daydreaming.
Maybe her new found buddy was the equivalent of a modern day Jimmy Choo who secretly planted himself in class to steal all her favourite shoe designs…..
The woman snapped out of it.
Whoever he was….and whatever he was…..it was becoming increasingly clear the two students were very different to each other.
Him with his precision.
Her with her chaos and mess.
His images collected were full of outdoorsy things, gadgets and far flung travel locations.
Her images were filled with shoes and clothes and statement jewellery.
She looked at the neutral magazine and wondered what to do now.
They had been required to cut 36 images from magazines and had chosen 15 each.
Now there were 6 left and they needed to be taken from the neutral magazine.
The woman sat wondering the social etiquette of the situation, and thought back to the woman in the Alannah Hill dress.
Did she mention something?
Were they meant to pick 3 each or were they meant to pick 6 together?
The woman looked at the man, just as he put down the scissors and picked up the magazine.
“So we need to choose 6 images” he said. “Are you ok with that?”
The woman found herself nodding.
“Ok….let’s see what we have in “Unique Cars” which can be described as “neutral”…..
“Oh my”….. thought the woman putting her hands over her face.
How on earth am I looking at car magazines with a random stranger when I am meant to be changing my life???
The woman stood up.
“I’m sorry” she said.
“Can you please excuse me for a minute?”
The man looked up from the picture of the Maserati Sport and smiled.
“Yes of course” he said.
“Take as much time as you need.”
